1. Alasdair Fraser & Natalie Haas

See Alasdair Fraser, “the Michael Jordan of Scottish fiddling” and brilliant Californian cellist, Natalie Haas, span the full spectrum between intimate chamber music and ecstatic dance energy. $20/adults; $5/students.

2. Pop-Up Boone

Connecting the High Country community to makers of art & hand-crafted goods in the greater Boone area, Pop-Up Boone brings the work of 25+ local makers into 1 central space where the abundance and diversity in our area can be celebrated.

3. Valentine’s Day Brushes and Brews for Breast Cancer
February 14th 6pm-9pm

Come support the High Country Breast Cancer Foundation on Valentine’s Day! Enjoy a tasty beverage while you design your own “Love” painting. You can choose between 2 canvas designs and get creative as you make your canvas your own. Limited space, sign up at thebluehouseartstudio.com. 21+.

4. Kruger Brothers Concert
February 16th 7:30pm-9:30pm
Ashe Civic Center – 962 Mount Jefferson Rd. West Jefferson, NC
Internationally known trio, The Kruger Brothers, bring exciting, calming, entertaining and spontaneous performances that reflect their sheer joy in playing music. Their musical style defies definition, encompassing all styles of music to result in what can only be described as new American music. $25/adults; $5/students.

5. Dance Theatre of Harlem
February 19th 7pm-9pm
Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts – 733 Rivers St. Boone, NC
Founded in 1969, this globally-acclaimed dance institution brings innovative and bold new forms of artistic expression to audiences across the country and around the world. The 16-member professional dance ensemble has performed in 41 countries, in 44 states and in over 250 cities across North America. $25/adult; $15/local residents; $5/students.

6. Totally ‘80s Retro Weekend
February 21st – 24th
Beech Mountain Resort – 1007 Beech Mountain Pkwy. Beech Mountain, NC
It’s the 8th annual Totally ‘80s Retro Ski Weekend, with festivities including live ‘80s music each night, retro ski fashions every day and plenty of old school activities ranging from a Rubik’s Cube competition to ‘80s karaoke to the ever-popular Totally Retro Apparel Contest to vintage 1980s cars.
