| Located less than a mile from historic downtown Blowing Rock is the Blowing Rock Equestrian Preserve. The present day facility boasts 17 barns, a grandstand arena, a schooling arena, 45 campsite hook-ups with power and water, and access to 25 miles of trails in the beautiful Moses Cone Memorial Park. Trails rides into Moses Cone Manor and Bass Lake are available Spring through Fall.
The Equestrian Preserve is home to the Blowing Rock Charity Horse Show which began in 1923 bringing equine enthusiasts and their families to the quaint village of Blowing Rock every August for a week of competition and camaraderie. Steeped in tradition, this event has consistently attracted annual exhibitors from all over the United States and several foreign countries and has the distinction of being recognized as the oldest continuous outdoor horse show in America. Facilities are top notch at The Saddle Club at Yonahlossee featuring a 28-stall modern barn with attached indoor arena, outdoor arena, spacious tack room, and wash stalls with hot water. New owner, Diana Militana, has completely refurbished the barn setting a new standard for equestrian facilities in the High Country. Services offered include year-round full care horse board, horse training, riding lessons for young and old, and a vast array of social activities.
